Managing Attorney - Pro Bono Project
Northeast New Jersey Legal Services (NNJLS) has a challenging and rewarding position for an attorney to help develop and manage the new Pro Bono Innovation Project. The Project seeks to enlist the services of the private bar in order to provide legal assistance for the underprivileged. The Project Managing Attorney will be responsible for building relationships with the private bar as well as training, supervising and advising law firm and corporate attorneys in order to ensure effective pro bono representation. They will also assist in the design and implementation of a variety of outreach and community legal education activities. The successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate with private attorneys, corporate counsel, community organizations, funders, and the public. The attorney will report to the Executive Director and work collaboratively with NNJLS managers, staff attorneys, and support staff.
NNJLS is a non-profit public interest law firm with over 70 employees providing free legal services to low-income, senior and disabled residents of Hudson, Bergen and Passaic Counties, New Jersey. NNJLS’s staff of highly experienced and dedicated attorneys provides a wide variety of civil legal assistance and advocacy for those most in need of legal representation such as victims of domestic violence, tenants facing unfair and arbitrary eviction, seniors victimized by unscrupulous creditors and many others. The Jersey City Office of NNJLS is within easy commuting distance from NYC via public transportation. Prior Legal Services experience or a demonstrated commitment to legal assistance for the disadvantaged is helpful. Excellent writing and oral advocacy skills are required. Law Office Manager
Non-profit law firm seeks manager to run day to day operations. Northeast New Jersey Legal Services (NNJLS) seeks candidates with a college degree as well as experience managing a professional law office, non-profit organization, or other similar organization. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. The individual must be reliable, organized, detail oriented, and possess the ability to multi-task under pressure in order to meet deadlines. The office manager must be proficient in Microsoft Office and be able to quickly learn other software programs used by the organization. The office manager will also supervise and motivate support staff as well as assume responsibility for various human resource functions. The successful candidate will be assigned to manage the work of one of NNJLS’ three offices which are located in Jersey City, Hackensack, and Paterson.
