NNJLS’ Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) is a federally-funded program which assists low-income residents who have federal tax controversies involving the IRS. The LITC Program director is a Qualified Tax Expert who provides legal assistance to residents in all three counties served by NNJLS. Assistance can be provided to eligible applicants with the following federal tax-related problems:

  • Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs)
  • Employee/Independent Contractor Issues
  • Help for First-Time Tax Filers
  • Tax Problems Arising from Identity Theft
  • Tax Levies and Collections
  • Challenges to Tax Liabilities
  • Innocent/Injured Spouse Relief
  • Hardship Waivers for Senior Citizens
  • Other IRS-related Disputes and Controversies
